Al-Infitar
The Cleaving
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Bismillah hir rahman nir raheem
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
(١) إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنفَطَرَتۡ
Izas samaaa’un fatarat
(1) When the sky breaks apart
(٢) وَإِذَا ٱلۡكَوَاكِبُ ٱنتَثَرَتۡ
Wa izal kawaakibun tasarat
(2) And when the stars fall, scattering,
(٣) وَإِذَا ٱلۡبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتۡ
Wa izal bihaaru fujjirat
(3) And when the seas are erupted
(٤) وَإِذَا ٱلۡقُبُورُ بُعۡثِرَتۡ
Wa izal qubooru bu’sirat
(4) And when the [contents of] graves are scattered,
(٥) عَلِمَتۡ نَفۡسٞ مَّا قَدَّمَتۡ وَأَخَّرَتۡ
Alimat nafsum maa qaddamat wa akhkharat
(5) A soul will [then] know what it has put forth and kept back.
(٦) يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ ٱلۡكَرِيمِ
Yaaa ayyuhal insaaanu maa gharraka bi Rabbikal kareem
(6) O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous,
(٧) ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّىٰكَ فَعَدَلَكَ
Allazee khalaqaka fasaw waaka fa’adalak
(7) Who created you, proportioned you, and balanced you?
(٨) فِيٓ أَيِّ صُورَةٖ مَّا شَآءَ رَكَّبَكَ
Feee ayye sooratim maa shaaa’a rakkabak
(8) In whatever form He willed has He assembled you.
(٩) كَلَّا بَلۡ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِٱلدِّينِ
Kalla bal tukazziboona bid deen
(9) No! But you deny the Recompense.
(١٠) وَإِنَّ عَلَيۡكُمۡ لَحَٰفِظِينَ
Wa inna ‘alaikum lahaa fizeen
(10) And indeed, [appointed] over you are keepers,
(١١) كِرَامٗا كَٰتِبِينَ
Kiraaman kaatibeen
(11) Noble and recording;
(١٢) يَعۡلَمُونَ مَا تَفۡعَلُونَ
Ya’lamoona ma taf’aloon
(12) They know whatever you do.
(١٣) إِنَّ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٖ
Innal abraara lafee na’eem
(13) Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure,
(١٤) وَإِنَّ ٱلۡفُجَّارَ لَفِي جَحِيمٖ
Wa innal fujjaara lafee jaheem
(14) And indeed, the wicked will be in Hellfire.
(١٥) يَصۡلَوۡنَهَا يَوۡمَ ٱلدِّينِ
Yaslawnahaa Yawmad Deen
(15) They will [enter to] burn therein on the Day of Recompense,
(١٦) وَمَا هُمۡ عَنۡهَا بِغَآئِبِينَ
Wa maa hum ‘anhaa bighaaa ‘ibeen
(16) And never therefrom will they be absent.
(١٧) وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا يَوۡمُ ٱلدِّينِ
Wa maaa adraaka maa Yawmud Deen
(17) And what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?
(١٨) ثُمَّ مَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا يَوۡمُ ٱلدِّينِ
Summa maaa adraaka maa Yawmud Deen
(18) Then, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?
(١٩) يَوۡمَ لَا تَمۡلِكُ نَفۡسٞ لِّنَفۡسٖ شَيۡـٔٗاۖ وَٱلۡأَمۡرُ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلَّهِ
Yawma laa tamliku nafsul linafsin shai’anw walamru yawma’izil lillaah
(19) It is the Day when a soul will not possess for another soul [power to do] a thing; and the command, that Day, is [entirely] with Allah.
