Al-Masad

The Palm Fiber

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Bismillah hir rahman nir raheem

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful

(١) تَبَّتۡ يَدَآ أَبِي لَهَبٖ وَتَبَّ

Tabbat yadaa abee Lahabinw-wa tabb

(1) May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he.

(٢) مَآ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ

Maa aghnaa ‘anhu maaluhoo wa ma kasab

(2) His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained.

(٣) سَيَصۡلَىٰ نَارٗا ذَاتَ لَهَبٖ

Sa-yaslaa naaran zaata lahab

(3) He will [enter to] burn in a Fire of [blazing] flame

(٤) وَٱمۡرَأَتُهُۥ حَمَّالَةَ ٱلۡحَطَبِ

Wamra-atuhoo hammaa latal-hatab

(4) And his wife [as well] – the carrier of firewood.

(٥) فِي جِيدِهَا حَبۡلٞ مِّن مَّسَدِۭ

Fee jeedihaa hablum mim-masad

(5) Around her neck is a rope of [twisted] fiber.
